Wine and Dine at Radisson Blu’s Chop House and Larder in Nairobi, Kenya

You remember the blog post I wrote about my stay at Radisson Blu in Nairobi’s Upperhill last year? Well, I am back again, this time to give a dining recommendation at two of my favorite restaurants at Radisson Blu; Chop House and Larder.

Chop House

If you are looking for a restaurants that exquisitely spells out elegance, luxury, class and fineness, then this the one place you should be eyeing.

It is a specialty restaurant that is well known for dry-aged steaks, fresh sea food, vegetarian meals and an exclusive selection of premium wines.

The restaurant comfortably fits as an ideal place for an executive business dinner, a small meetup with friends and a nice spot for a romantic night out.

Meals are prepared in an open kitchen and cured meat is mostly served in plancha plates.

The dimly lit restaurant, with soft jazzy ballads coupled with world class interior decor, makes every shilling worth the spending.

Chop House opens during lunch time and dinner only.

Larder

I took an imaginary culinary trip to Mexico and back after trying out finger-licking Mexican Tacos prepared at the Larder during their Sunday Brunch. I am yet to find an equivalent in Nairobi.

The fresh vegetables and fruits used at Radisson Blu are sourced from organic farms in the outskirts of Nairobi and others like Six Square Limited who supply export grade supplies amongst other contract farmers.

Larder has a lovely Afro feel, majorly from the interior decor.

One of the walls has a spread ‘uteos'(African woven trays) and wooden spoons of all sizes. In my opinion, this make locals feel more at home while also giving international guests a taste of Kenya without moving an inch.

Meals are served buffet style, with the widest selection of salads, mains and desserts. Larder is open all day.

Have you been to either or both of the restaurants? What was your experience like?
